La chiesa primitiva deve essere stata costruita intorno alla metà del XIV secolo , rispondendo all'estetica mudéjar prevalente nelle chiese sivigliane dell'epoca.
Il passare del tempo e i danni causati dal terremoto di Lisbona del 1755 ne costrinsero la demolizione e la successiva ricostruzione, che fu completata nell'ottobre del 1841 . La chiesa in stile neoclassico presenta due facciate. La facciata principale è molto monumentale e ha la particolarità di avere due torri doppie che ospitano un piccolo atrio.
L'interno è costituito da tre navate con transetto e presbiterio. La pala dell'altare maggiore contiene le statue di San Ildefonso al centro e di San Pedro e San Pablo ai lati.
