L'isola di Skye è conosciuta come la più grande delle Ebridi interne. Il paesaggio è affascinante e vario: dal pastorale Sleat alle alture inospitali delle Cuillin Hills, dalla solitudine di Duirinish alle scogliere selvagge di Trotternish. Skye può inoltre vantare una lunga storia. Ai primi abitanti neolitici seguirono i Vichinghi, poi i Lords of the Isles. Nel XIX secolo, ci fu l'esodo massiccio verso l'America e il Canada (le clearances).
