Dolcedo è situata nella valle del Prino, nei pressi della confluenza del rio dei Boschi con il torrente Prino.
Il capoluogo comunale, detto "Piazza", è un tipico centro di fondovalle e già sede di mercato. Il territorio comunale conta altri quattro centri maggiori: Isolalunga, poco a est di Piazza, Ripalta, Costa Carnara, Bellissimi e Lecchiore posti più a ovest.
