Borgo San Lorenzo è un comune italiano di 18 114 abitanti della città metropolitana di Firenze in Toscana. Ha una superficie territoriale di 146 km² con un'altimetria che varia dai 177 m s.l.m. ai 1144 m s.l.m.
Certamente antichissimi sono i primi insediamenti nella zona centrale del Mugello, quella occupata successivamente da Borgo San Lorenzo.
Numerose sono le testimonianze dell'esistenza di nuclei abitativi anche anteriori agli Etruschi, dei quali possiamo trovare traccia nei pressi di Ronta.
Dal II secolo a.C. furono i Romani ad insediarsi in questi luoghi, creando la borgata di Anneianum, sulla via che da Firenze portava a Faenza.
