Drachten è una città di circa 45 000 abitanti del nord dei Paesi Bassi, facente parte della provincia della Frisia. È il capoluogo e il centro più grande della municipalità di Smallingerland, nonché la seconda città più grande della Frisia.Drachten si trova nella parte centro-orientale della provincia della Frisia, ad ovest della regione lacustre di Oude Venen e tra le località di Surhuisterveen e Beetsterzwaag . Si trova inoltre a circa 30 km a sud-est di Leeuwarden.
