Oosterzele is een plaats en gemeente in de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen. De gemeente telt ruim 13.000 inwoners, die Oosterzelenaars worden genoemd.De oudste vermelding van Oosterzele is van eind 9e eeuw, als Ostresela. In 1042 was sprake van Ostresele. Het zou nbetrekking hebben op een voornaam huis dat in het oosten lag.
