Diksmuide heeft 14 landelijke deelgemeenten. Ieder dorp heeft zijn eigen parochiekerk en een landelijk karakter die een bepaalde charme over de politiedorpen uitstralen. Er zitten kunstzinnige pareltjes tussen. Een buitenbeentje is de opvallend gekleurde Orthodoxe kerk van het Klooster naar Russische ritus nabij Oostkerke. De abt, vader Thomas, geeft uitleg over hun ritus en de talrijke iconen. Deftige kledij gewenst.
