Het meer heeft een oppervlakte van 1,49 km². Ondanks zijn kleine oppervlakte is het meer vrij diep. Het diepste punt ligt 116 meter onder het waternievau. Het meer is een belangrijke toeristische trekpleister. Jozef Stalin had een datsja aan het meer. Dit is nu eigendom van de Abchazische regering. Het meer wordt omgeven door Nordmann-sparren.
