Route 1 is een circuit rond de rand van de Ballyhoura Mountains. De weg volgt deContouren van de berghellingen naar de stad Doneraille, waar er volop mogelijkheden zijn voor verfrissing. Er is één grote klim aan de oostzijde van het circuit; de bergpass tussen Glenosheen en Glenanaar. Bij een hoogte van 307 meter kom je hier oogverblindende uitzichten tegen als beloning voor je inspanningen. De ingang van het speciaal ontwikkelde Ballyhoura Mountain Bike centrum bevindt zich langs deze sectie.
