Het waterwingebied Sint Jansklooster omvat twee verschillende landschapstypen: het Kraggengebied en het gebied op een stuwwalrug, het Hoge Land. De voor de omgeving markante watertoren geeft aan waar deze twee landschappen in elkaar overlopen. In het waterwingebied zorgen bos, struikgewassen en open terrein voor een afwisselend landschap. Eikenbossen worden afgewisseld met percelen beuk, acacia en de bijna uit het Nederlands landschap verdwenen linde. Het gebied is met een omvang van 55 hectare één van de grotere waterwingebieden van Vitens in Overijssel.
