Naarden ) is een stad en voormalige gemeente in het Gooi in de Nederlandse provincie Noord-Holland. Op 1 januari 2016 zijn de gemeentes Naarden; Bussum en Muiden samengevoegd tot de nieuwe gemeente Gooise Meren.Naarden heeft een lange geschiedenis, die begon rond het jaar 1000. Er is meerdere malen in oorlogen om de stad gestreden, in de Tachtigjarige oorlog , in het rampjaar en tijdens de Franse tijd .
