Op initiatief van pastoor Verbunt is eind 1943 besloten om dit kapelletje te bouwen om gespaard te blijven voor de rampen tijdens de oorlog en ter verkrijging van de vrede. Het ontleent haar naam aan het feit dat Maria in Fatima gezegd heeft dat de mensen voor de vrede moesten bidden. Het hele buurtschap Kaarschot bracht gelden hiervoor bijeen. Omdat er geen nieuwe stenen voorhanden waren, werden de stenen van het oude kerkpad gebruikt. Op 14 mei 1944 werd dit kapelletje door pastoor Verbunt ingewijd.
