De Universiteit van Ljubljana in Ljubljana is de oudste en meest gerenommeerde universiteit van Slovenië. Met ruim 63.000 studenten, 22 faculteiten, 3 kunstacademies onder één universiteitsbestuur is het een van de grotere universiteiten in Europa.
De universiteit van Ljubljana is in 1919 opgericht in het centrum van Ljubljana. Reeds in de 17e eeuw had Ljubljana echter al humanistische en theologische academies en in 1810 werd er onder Franse heerschappij een universiteit gesticht, die echter maar een korte levensduur kende.
