Helpt ligger cirka 20 kilometer øst for Neubrandenburg og fem kilometer nord for Woldegk. I sydøst ligger den højeste punkt i Helpter Berge og i Mecklenburg-Vorpommern med en højde på 179,2 m. ø. NHN. Området er præget af agerland, kun små områder mod øst er skovklædte.
Til Helpt hører også stederne Oertzenhof og Pasenow, som den 13. juni 1999 blev indlemmet i Helpt.
