Statsmine Beatrix var den sidste hollandske kulmine, der blev bygget. I forbindelse med 50 år med statsminer blev det i 1952 offentliggjort, at en femte statsmines eksistens ville blive tilføjet. Byggeriet heraf startede i 1954 i Herkenbosch og blev stoppet i 1962, da en dybde på 710 meter var nået. Denne mine, der blev anlagt af DSM, blev aldrig taget i brug. Under opførelsen af skaktterne blev det klart, at naturgas og råolie ville overtage kullets rolle. Kulminedrift i Holland var ikke længere rentabel.
