Schloss Rastenfeld liegt 1,5 km nördlich der Ortschaft Meiselding auf einer nach Osten abfallenden Bergkuppe, einem Ausläufer des bewaldeten Gunzenberges. Nordöstlich des Schlosses befindet sich die zu der Anlage gehörige Kapelle Johannes Nepomuk. Beide Gebäude stehen unter Denkmalschutz.Im 13. Jahrhundert errichtete das aus Friesach stammende Geschlecht der Raspo eine Burg an der Stelle des heutigen Schlosses. Ein „Raspo“ wurde urkundlich 1241 genannt, die Anlage selbst erst im Jahr 1432 als „Raspenveld“ erwähnt. Später kam sie in den Besitz von Wilhelm von Perneck , der sie 1469 an das Bistum Gurk verkaufte.
