Dass das Radfahren in Flandern stark ist, ist keine wirklich neue Information und wird auch durch die Statistiken belegt. Laut einer Zahl der VAB ist die Anzahl der Fahrräder in Flandern in den letzten 10 Jahren um 1,7 Millionen Exemplare gestiegen. Doch beim Pendeln mit dem Fahrrad gibt es noch viel Verbesserungspotenzial. Eine Zahl aus dem Jahr 2013 (Quelle VAB) besagt, dass 17% der Städter das Fahrrad für den Arbeitsweg nutzen. Und nur 7% der Menschen, die im ländlichen Raum leben.
Der Föderale Öffentliche Dienst Wirtschaft meldete im Jahr 2011, dass Belgien 7 Millionen Fahrräder zählt, ohne Kinderfahrräder. Damals soll Flandern 5,34 Millionen Fahrräder gehabt haben.
