Buggenhout ist ein Ort und eine Gemeinde in der Provinz Ostflandern in Belgien. Die Gemeinde hat über 13.500 Einwohner. Sie ist bekannt für ihren Wald (Buggenhout-Wald), den größten Staatswald von Ostflandern mit der Waldkapelle, dem geografischen Mittelpunkt von Flandern, in der Nähe des Dreiländerecks, dem berührungspunkt zwischen Ostflandern, Antwerpen und Flandern-Brabant.
Buggenhout lag von der karolingischen Zeit bis zum elften Jahrhundert im Gau Brabant. Vom elften Jahrhundert bis zum Ende des achtzehnten Jahrhunderts gehörte es zum Viertel Brüssel des Herzogtums Brabant. In den späten Mittelalter musste eine Art gemischte Brabanter-flämische Kommission regelmäßig die (Grenz-)Pfähle kontrollieren.
Die Franzosen gliederten Buggenhout 1796 dem Schelde-Départment zu, das 1815 in die Provinz Ostflandern umgewandelt wurde.
