Das Fort wurde 1907-1908 erbaut und stand bereits 1914 unter schwerem deutschem Beschuss. Am 3. Oktober 1914 wurde das Fort von den Deutschen eingenommen. 1939-1940 wurde ein Panzerschutz angebracht und das Fort wurde Teil der neuen Königshooikt-Waver-Linie (KW-Linie).
Im Fort haben viele Fledermäuse ihr Zuhause gefunden. Die häufigsten Arten sind die Großen Mausohr, die Wasserfledermaus, die Fransenfledermaus, die Brandt-Fledermaus und die Bartfledermaus. Das Gebiet ist eine Europäische Besondere Schutzgebiet.
