Das Kalkmoor ist der Lebensraum der Schilfrohrschnecke. Diese Schnecke von gerade mal 2,4 mm lebt ausschließlich in kalkreichen, feuchten Mooren oder an Ufern kalkreicher Flüsse und Teiche. Dieses europäisch geschützte Tier hat ein bienenkorbähnliches Gehäuse und ernährt sich von Algen und Pilzen, die auf den Blättern von Moorpflanzen parasitieren. Extensive Beweidung oder Mahd sind gute Bewirtschaftungsmaßnahmen für diese Art.
