Peter der Große hat im Brüsseler Warandepark ein Denkmal, das an seinen bemerkenswerten Besuch im Jahr 1717 erinnert. Während eines Festes trank er so viel Wein, dass er in einen Brunnen kotzen musste, was die Brüsseler mit einem lustigen Text auf dem Brunnensockel verewigten.
Das Denkmal selbst wurde 1854 vom russischen Prinzen Antoli Demitov als Erinnerung an diesen historischen Besuch gestiftet.
Der Text auf dem ursprünglichen Brunnen lautet: "Peter Alexiowitz, Zar von Moskau, Großherzog, der am Rand dieses Brunnens sitzt, hat die Gewässer mit dem Wein, den er getrunken hat, bereichert, am 16. April 1717, um drei Uhr nachmittags". Obwohl der Zar für seine Modernisierungsambitionen bekannt war, wird er in Brüssel für sein ausgelassenes Trinkverhalten erinnert.
