Die Maat-Den Diel (145 ha) kombiniert flache Tore, trockene und nasse Heide, Wälder und ausgedehnte Teiche mit breiten Schilfzonen.
Der seltene Eisvogel fühlt sich hier ganz wohl. An einem schwülen Frühlingsabend sorgen die Rückenstreifenkröten für ein wunderschönes Konzert. Hier befindet sich außerdem die größte Libellensammlung Flanderns (über 40 Arten!).
Auch die Flora ist ebenso beeindruckend. Norwegische Fjordpferde, schottische Hochlandrinder und Kempen-Heideschafe erhalten diese besondere Landschaft.
Ein absoluter Tipp ist der ausgeschilderte Naturwanderweg ‘Den Diel’ (4 km). Er gehört zum Wander-Netzwerk Kempen-Meren.
Radfahren und Hunde sind nicht erlaubt.
