Silvaplana ist eine politische Gemeinde in der Region Maloja des Kantons Graubünden in der Schweiz.
Der bekannte Urlaubsort liegt am Silvaplanersee im Oberengadin auf einer Höhe von 1815 m am Beginn des Inntals. Der See ist der mittlere der drei Oberengadiner Seen und liegt zwischen dem St. Moritzersee und dem Silsersee. Auf der südlichen Seite des Inns liegt der Dorfteil Surlej . Unweit dieses Ortsteils befindet sich am Seeufer ein Felsblock, von dem Friedrich Nietzsche berichtet, dass er den Gedanke an die ewige Wiederkehr – der der Schrift Also sprach Zarathustra zugrunde liegt – im August 1881 gefasst habe, als er an dieser Stelle haltmachte.
