Bad Schlema ist seit dem 1. Januar 2019 einer von vier Ortsteilen der fusionierten Stadt Aue-Bad Schlema. Er liegt im Erzgebirgskreis in Sachsen und gehört zum Städtebund Silberberg. Bis Ende 2018 war Bad Schlema eine selbstständige Gemeinde.
Durch den Ortsteil führt die Silberstraße. Der Tourismus ist für den Ort insbesondere im Erholungs- und Gesundheitsbereich von Bedeutung. Bad Schlema ist staatlich anerkannter Kurort .
Ortsgebiete des Kurbades sind Oberschlema und Niederschlema. Die weiteren Ortsteile von Aue-Bad Schlema sind Aue, Alberoda und Wildbach.
