Die Hansestadt Demmin [dɛˈmiːn] ist eine Kleinstadt im östlichen Zentrum des Landes Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Seit der Kreisgebietsreform 2011 gehört sie zwar zum Landkreis Mecklenburgische Seenplatte, betont aber stets ihre Zugehörigkeit zu Vorpommern. Bis dahin war Demmin schon seit 1818 selbst eine Kreisstadt. Mit knapp 11.000 Einwohnern ist sie eines der 18 Mittelzentren im Land. Die Stadt gehört zu den ältesten Orten Pommerns.
Durch ihre vielen Gewässer und die umgebende Landschaft ist die Region Demmin ein beliebtes Urlaubsziel, vor allem für Naturtouristen. In Demmin fließen die drei Flüsse Peene, Trebel und Tollense zusammen. Die Peene fließt vom nahen Kummerower See durch Demmin bis in die Ostsee.
