Der Bahnhof Süßen liegt an der 1847 bis hier eröffneten Filstalbahn Stuttgart–Ulm . Von 1901 bis zu ihrer vollständigen Stilllegung 1995 zweigte in Süßen die Lautertalbahn nach Lauterstein-Weißenstein ab.
Der Bahnhof wird im Betriebsstellenverzeichnis unter der Bezeichnung TSD geführt. Der Bahnhof befindet sich im nördlichen Stadtgebiet von Süßen. Westlich neben dem Bahnhof liegt der Omnibusbahnhof .
