Tecklenburg ist eine Stadt in den westlichen Ausläufern des Teutoburger Waldes (auch Tecklenburger Land genannt) und liegt auf einem Höhenrücken. 1388 erhielt sie die Stadtrechte. Es hat einen interessanten mittelalterlichen Stadtkern mit vielen Fachwerkhäusern. Darüber hinaus gibt es eine Burgruine mit einem Freilichttheater. Etwas außerhalb des Zentrums befindet sich der Bismarckturm, von dem aus man einen schönen Blick auf die Umgebung hat.
