Leichlingen ist eine Mittelstadt im Rheinisch-Bergischen Kreis und liegt im Land Nordrhein-Westfalen. Seit dem 8. Juli 2013 trägt sie den offiziellen Namenszusatz Blütenstadt.
Leichlingen liegt im nordwestlichen Zipfel des Rheinisch-Bergischen Kreises zwischen den Ballungskernen Köln, Leverkusen und Düsseldorf mit einer fließenden Stadtgrenze zu Solingen am Rande des Bergischen Landes in der Mittelgebirgslandschaft. Es wird wegen seiner Obstplantagen auch Blütenstadt genannt.
