Birkholz ist ein Gemeindeteil der amtsangehörigen Gemeinde Münchehofe im Landkreis Dahme-Spreewald . Birkholz war bis 1974 eine selbständige Gemeinde. Die Verwaltungsaufgaben von Münchehofe werden vom Amt Schenkenländchen ausgeführt.
Birkholz liegt ca. 3,5 km ostnordöstlich von Märkisch Buchholz. Die Gemarkung der früher eigenständigen Gemeinde grenzt im Norden an Hermsdorf und Münchehofe, im Osten an Groß Eichholz ) und Neuendorf am See sowie im Südosten an Leibsch , im Süden an Köthen , und im Westen an die Stadt Märkisch Buchholz.
