Argelès-sur-Mer ist eine Stadt mit 10.260 Einwohnern im Département Pyrénées-Orientales in der Region Okzitanien im Süden Frankreichs.Die Stadt liegt am Mittelmeer am nördlichen Ende der Côte Vermeille am Fuße des Massif des Albères etwa 25 km nordwestlich der spanischen Grenze bei Cerbère. Die nächstgelegene Großstadt ist die etwa 23 km nordwestlich gelegene Stadt Perpignan mit ca. 120.000 Einwohnern; sehenswert sind auch der Ort und die Kathedrale von Elne . Die Stadt hat mit dem Stadtteil Argelès-Plage über sieben Kilometer Teil an den flachen Sandstränden der Küste des Roussillons und mit dem Stadtteil Le Racou jenseits des Hafens, wo die Albères an die Küste treten, an den Felsbuchten der Côte Vermeille, die auf der spanischen Seite Costa Brava heißt.
