Der Kalvarienberg befindet sich auf den Anhöhen von Château-Chinon und bietet Ihnen einen außergewöhnlichen Panoramablick auf den Morvan.
Er befindet sich auf dem höchsten Punkt der Stadt, an der Stelle der alten Burg, die während der Schlachten zwischen dem Herzog von Burgund, Karl dem Kühnen, und den Truppen von Ludwig XI. zerstört wurde. Die Steine der alten Burg wurden zum Bau der Porte Notre Dame im Stadtzentrum verwendet. Dort sind heute drei Missionskreuze aufgestellt. Der ursprüngliche Orientierungstisch aus Volvic-Stein war 1914 vom Touring Club de France gestiftet worden. Die heutigen Tische, darunter der 360°-Tisch, wurden 2014 eingeweiht.
