Die Yorkshire Dales ist einer der zwölf Nationalparks von England und Wales. Die Dales sind eine Sammlung von Fluss Tälern und den Hügeln dazwischen, die vom Vale of York westwärts zu den Gipfeln des Hauptwasserscheide der Penninen ansteigen.
Die charakteristische Landschaft der Dales sind grüne Hochweiden, die durch Trockenmauern getrennt und von Schafen und Rindern beweidet werden. Die Dales selbst sind 'U' und 'V' förmige Täler, die von Gletschern vergrößert und geformt wurden.
Das Wort Dale stammt von einem nordischen/germanischen Wort für Tal.
