Als Spanische Armada oder verkürzt Armada wird die spanische Kriegsflotte bezeichnet, die von König Philipp II. 1588 für den Krieg gegen England gerüstet wurde.
Die Armada segelte 1588 unter dem Herzog von Medina-Sidonia gegen England und sollte den Sturz Elisabeths I. erzwingen. Ihr gegenüber stand die englische Flotte unter Charles Howard und den Vizeadmiralen Francis Drake, John Hawkins und Martin Frobisher, bekannten Kaperkapitänen, die Spanien in den Jahren zuvor stark zugesetzt hatten.
