Lonneker ist ein Dorf, das zur Gemeinde Enschede gehört und 1770 Einwohner hat. Das Dorf liegt nördlich von Enschede in der Region Twente. Bis 1934 war Lonneker eine selbständige Gemeinde. Lonneker hat keine eigene Postleitzahl. Im Postleitzahlenverzeichnis fällt das Dorf unter den Ortsnamen Enschede. Lonneker wird zum ersten Mal um das 9./10. Jahrhundert in einer Güterliste des Stifts Werden an der Ruhr erwähnt. Zu den Besitztümern in Loningheri gehörten die alten Erben Effuk und Uuilger. Die Nachbarschaft Lonneker bildete später einen Teil der Kirchengemeinde und des Richteramts Enschede als Bestandteil des Drostamts Twente. Um 1820 wurde in Lonneker die erste römisch-katholische Kirche, die Jacobus de Meerderekerk, erbaut.
