Königin Christinas Chronist Priorato berichtet, dass sie während ihrer Reise nach Süden nach ihrer Abdankung im Jahr 1654 eine Nacht im königlichen Schloss von Jönköping verbrachte. Das Schloss brannte 1737 ab. Es wurde nie wieder aufgebaut. Die Ruinen wurden im 19. Jahrhundert geräumt.
