Das Kernkraftwerk Saporischschja befindet sich direkt am Fluss Dnepr nahe der Stadt Enerhodar im Südosten der Ukraine und ist das leistungsstärkste Kernkraftwerk Europas. Es ist etwa 50 Kilometer von der Großstadt Saporischschja entfernt. Direkt neben dem Kernkraftwerk steht das konventionelle Wärmekraftwerk Saporischschja.
Das Kernkraftwerk hat insgesamt sechs Blöcke vom sowjetischen Typ WWER-1000/320.
Diese haben eine elektrische Leistung von jeweils 1.000 Megawatt und eine thermische Leistung von je 3.200 Megawatt. Die thermische Gesamtleistung der Anlage von fast 20 Gigawatt erfordert enorme Mengen Kühlwasser, die dem Fluss Dnepr, welcher an dieser Stelle extra verbreitert wurde, entnommen werden. Die Leichtwasserreaktoren haben eine elektrische Gesamtleistung von 6.000 Megawatt brutto und bilden somit zusammengerechnet die leistungsstärkste Kernkraftwerksanlage Europas.
