Helfenberg Castle, today also known as Schloss Revertera, is a castle complex in Upper Austria and is situated above the town of Helfenberg in the Mühlviertel. The castle was built around 1250 as a fortress, the new building took place around 1607, and today the castle is privately owned.
In a document from the Hohenfurt Monastery, now in the Czech Republic, a Wirint de Helfenberch is mentioned as the owner of the fortification Helfenberg around 1224. The predecessor of today's castle was likely built as a fortress around 1250 and expanded in 1270. Allegedly, the war memorial of Helfenberg was erected on the substructure of this fortress.
