In Villers-La-Ville is the "Abbaye Notre-Dame De Villers". These are the ruins of what was once a Cistercian abbey. Deep in the valley of the Thyle, which has carved out an almost Ardennes landscape here, there are the remains to admire.
The abbey was founded in 1146 by the later canonized Saint Bernard and has grown over the years into one of the most unique abbeys in all of Western Europe. The ruin is over 15 ha in size and the 13th century brewery is one of the most impressive monastery buildings in Belgium.
