Description by the author

Giro dei Laghetti is a varied Vespa and scooter route of approximately 103 km from Vespa Club Avelgem – Squadra Segreta, with water, country roads, and the rolling landscape of the Flemish Ardennes as a common thread.

As always, the ride starts at our familiar Vespabar in Bossuit, the clubhouse of Vespa Club Avelgem – Squadra Segreta.
From there, we head through the area around Avelgem towards the rural inland of West Flanders and the region of Waregem.

The route mostly chooses pleasant tourist roads, away from the major traffic arteries. Small villages, agricultural landscapes, quiet roads, and beautiful views provide much variety along the way.
The theme of this Giro recurs several times in the form of ponds, water features, and green recreational areas.

Around km 29, we reach De Geestige Put in the Waregem region. The ponds and green surroundings form an ideal first stop and immediately give meaning to the name Giro dei Laghetti – literally a ride along the lakes.

After that, we continue towards the Flemish Ardennes and Oudenaarde. The landscape gradually becomes hillier, and the rural roads and views give this part of the route a very different character.

Around km 53 we reach the Donkvijver in Oudenaarde, a large water feature and recreation area on the edge of the city. During our club ride, this area serves as a second rest point by the water and is immediately the central point of the route.

From Oudenaarde, we continue through the landscape of the Flemish Ardennes. The combination of open fields, small village cores, and winding roads makes this a particularly pleasant section to ride with the Vespa.

Around km 78, a third stop occurs at ’t Hof Wijmenier. After that, the last part of the ride begins, and we gradually return towards the Schelderegion and Bossuit via quiet country roads.

After approximately 103 km, Giro dei Laghetti ends again where it began: at our familiar Vespabar.

Giro dei Laghetti is therefore much more than a ride from pond to pond. It is a varied journey of discovery through West Flanders, the Schelderegion, and the Flemish Ardennes, where water, nature, rural landscapes, and beautiful driving roads continuously alternate.

A relaxed but surprisingly varied club ride from Vespa Club Avelgem – Squadra Segreta, designed to cruise, explore, and especially enjoy the road together. 🛵
