Cats route - Cycling by numbers in the Elb-Havel-Winkel

Short description

This circular route takes you through forest and heathland to Wust. Wust has been the ancestral seat of the von Katte family for over 800 years. Hans Hermann von Kattes tragic story is closely linked to the later Prussian King Frederick the Great. The family crypt is located at the church. Opposite the church is the former residence.

Directions

You can start your tour in Hohengöhren at junction 18 and ride on the road-side cycle path to Schönhausen (Elbe) until junction 77. You have the opportunity to visit the Bismarck Exhibition, the Baroque Park, and the Romanesque brick church. Follow the cycle path signs to junction 30, then turn left towards Wust. You will pass through the forest until you reach a dirt road. It will lead you to Wust. You will need to cross the B188 and ride through the village directly to the church with the Katte crypt and the former residence of the von Katte family (at junction 6). Behind the manor house on your right, you will find the Muuuhseum of Altmark in a former storage building. Turn left at junction 6 before the church and cycle on the asphalt road to the Wuster settlement with its bakery. At the end of the road, cross the B188 again and continue on a forest path. You will reach the village Wuster Damm and ride left in the village towards Klietz until you reach junction 33 in the center of Hohengöhren Damm. Turn left at the intersection onto a lightly trafficked road towards junction 18 to Hohengöhren.
