Bike route in the Ohre floodplain

Rade - Waddekath - Haselhorst - Hanum - Zasenbeck - Radenbeck - Nettgau - Wendischbrome - Altendorf - Brome - Steimke - Zicherie - Altendorf - Wiswedel - Radenbeck - Zasenbeck - Ohrdorf - Rade
This cycle route was created as part of the nature conservation project "Green Belt Ohre." Thematically, it presents the Ohre River as part of the Green Belt. The Green Belt originated from the former restricted zone between East and West Germany, where valuable habitats could develop. Like a green ribbon, this area stretches through Germany and Europe. The project on the Ohre River contributes to the improvement of the ecological development of part of this national heritage. Along the route, there are opportunities to get close to the Ohre: the river, which was once part of the Iron Curtain in this section, has mostly been straightened, but has partially preserved a natural character. North of Brome, beaver feeding traces can even be discovered. Interesting stopping points along the route include the Museum Burg Brome and the Border Museum in Böckwitz.
