The route starts in Mertloch, which is located in Maifeld near the cycle path over a former railway line. The Maifeld is a plateau (up to about 400 meters high) between the river valleys of the Rhine, Moselle, Elz and Nette and is slightly sloping with a lot of arable farming.

The route runs counterclockwise towards the Moselle valley. This means that you will encounter really steep climbs in this direction. If you want less steep climbs, take the route in the opposite direction, but take into account very steep descents (up to 24%)!

You first cycle through the hilly Maifeld and then follow a very steep descent into the valley of the Elz, yes also a very steep climb (up to 20%) away from the Alztal. After this first effort you will reach the highest point of the route and drive as much as possible on secondary roads to the Moselle, in Pomerania you will reach the Moselle.

Then follow the following climbs away from the Moselle valley, after which you descend again and again into the Moselle valley:
- Windhauser Höfe
- Moselkerner Rosenberg, this one is steep to 15%! The descent then goes through the beautiful and quiet Schrumpfbachtal.
- Bergstraße Löf, and you then descend back to the Moselle via the Kattenes Panoramastraße.
- and then follows the Apotheosis, the super-steep (up to 24%) Valley of the 13 Mills. After that, the route will move away from the Moselle valley.

Via Münstermailfeld and an asphalted cycle path over a former railway line , it goes back to Mertloch.
