Description by the author

This walk explores the reed beds behind Plage Pampelone , follows the uneven Sentier Camarat to the Cap Camarat lighthouse and the Rocher des Portes island, where the sea kisses the rock, and returns along the Pointe de Bonne Terasse . Beautiful rock formations and viewpoints reward the effort of the walk.

Start at the (paid) parking lot of Nikki Beach.

The Camarat trail is uneven and requires some scrambling. Not recommended in wet conditions.

From Nikki Beach, we walk away from the beach to take some paths through the tall reeds that provide some shade in sunny weather. We arrive at the La Bonne Terasse parking lot, between campsites and a holiday village, where we take a path to Plage Camarat. Those who want to shorten the walk can start at the La Bonne Terasse parking lot.

This is where the Sentier de Camarat begins. It's a hilly trail at first, but it gets better further on (we'll turn back here too...).

Be sure to take the path up to the right to the Cap Camarat Lighthouse in good time! I think this is the easiest side!

At the top, we have a 360° view. A little further away is the lighthouse...

We descend (stairs!) and continue to the very tip where the Rocher des Portes forms an island. Daredevils can swim to it!

We return along the coastal path, all the way to Plage Camarat . We now return along the coast: past Bonne Terasse beach (cafeteria options) and the pointe leading to the overgrown Plage Caserne (a patch of Neptune grass).

This is how we arrive at Plage Pampelonne , which we follow for a while along the waterline.

At the mouth of the Gros Vallat we enter the reed fields again to the starting point.

Be sure to check out the information about the sights once you're there . They'll explain what you'll see!
