Discover all benefitsFrom Nantua, it is a direct climb to Apremont and from there to Lac Genin. Lake Genin is also called "le petit Canada du Haut-Bugey" because the landscape strongly resembles Canada: spruces, conifers interspersed with deciduous trees, and a quaint little lake. The road from Apremont to Lac Genin is in moderate condition.
Next, you will descend to the valley of Le Combet and climb to Plagne. Finally, you descend to the valley of the Semine, first with beautiful views high above the valley, later through forests and a gorge-like valley to the river itself.
After crossing the valley of the Semine, you ascend to the top of Col de Bérentin: in 11.5 kilometers you conquer 640 meters of elevation. You first stay at altitude on the Plateau du Retord, and then the descent to Nantua follows.
