Haren ) is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. Haren was an independent municipality from 1811 to 2019. Haren is located immediately southeast of the city of Groningen. Partly because of that location, it is a typical commuter town. The village of Haren is a villa village; it is called the Wassenaar of the North and also the green pearl of the north. In 2013, according to cbs data, the municipality had about 18,640 inhabitants. Partly due to the construction of the Harenerholt district, the population increased, on 1 January 2017 this had risen to 19,570 inhabitants. In 2018, this increased further to 20,191 inhabitants as of 31 December.
