Westerflier is a mansion or havezate surrounded by a park and an estate, which is located southwest of Diepenheim and which was inhabited by noble families. One had to possess a havezate in order to be admitted to the knighthood. Originally, an allodium was managed from here. The area after which the house is named is first mentioned as Westerfle in 1046. Westerflier has been inhabited for centuries by the Van Hövell family, which formed the origin of the noble family Van Hövell tot Westerflier. It is unknown what the house looked like at the time.
