On April 28, 1992, then mayor J. Smit, together with Mr. Herman Meijerink, unveiled this monument in memory of the Loser Jews who did not return from the extermination camps. The monument was made by the Oldenzaal visual artist Antoinette Ruiter. Former alderman Herman Meijerink and his wife Marie were the initiators for the creation of the monument. The Jews from Losser were a small and actually forgotten group, which will remain in our memory in this way, hopefully forever, thanks to the initiative of Mr. and Mrs. Meijerink.
