After a devastating tornado in 1577, the church with its tower was heavily damaged. It took a long time before the church was restored. Only 60 years later, in 1637, could the church be put back into use. The church from 1637 was expanded in the second half of the 19th century and in 1909. As a result, the number of seats increased to 1400. Every Sunday, services in this Dutch Reformed church are well attended.
