Groede rightly appears on the list of the Netherlands' most beautiful villages. This picturesque little village has barely a handful of streets, with the narrow streets grouped around the market, housing several 17th-century historic residences.
The market itself is admirable, featuring, among others, the Grote Kerk (Protestant church - 1615) and its most famous former resident J. Cats, a poet-jurist-politician, sitting at his little table.
Despite its limited size, this village also has 2 other churches, namely the Lutheran church and the St. Bavo church.
