El Hoogbos es un bosque en una meseta al sur de Mheer. La mayor parte del bosque se encuentra en Bélgica. En el último trozo de los Países Bajos, caminas entre olorosos abetos y viejos robles. En el borde del bosque crece muérdago y se puede admirar un típico paisaje del sur de Limburgo: prados con setos de espino, huertos y colinas.
En el bosque caminas por varios caminos hundidos, a menudo con cubiles de nutrias. También verás en el bosque algunos extraños hoyos, llamados dolinas. Esto se debe a que la caliza en el suelo se disuelve bajo condiciones especiales y, por lo tanto, el suelo se hunde.
